As a photographer I am always on the lookout for interesting locations. This is particularly important for a photographer as we always want to explore new locations, geometries and keep challenging ourselves. This may also be more true in Malta, given the fact that Malta is rather limited is area as a small island and therefore finding new location ideas is sometimes challenging. Given this, every time I pass under the large orange Bridge near Marsa, I have been dreaming and thinking for the last 2 years how great the location would be.
As we were organising a series of photoshoots with the dress designer Ferreira Couture I immediately suggested the location and Anene was onboard with my concept. Therefore some months ago I went to scout the location, imagining the areas and spots we would use for the shootout. Everything was planned but unfortunately the first time we had scheduled to have the shootout at the location, I was a bit sick and we had to postpone.
Fast forward to last Saturday were although the weather was still a bit uncertain, we had an amazing team and we decided to go with this location. The amazing team behind this shootout was:
Model @luke_magro_ Model @kyliedarmanin
Videography @deans.online
Suit @bortexfinetailoring
Dress @ferreiracouture
Makeup @elisabetcasanymakeupartist
There were some aspects which proved a bit challenging during the shootout - such as the fact that there is no location where the model could change or the fact that the area is particularly frequented by what I would call ‘sketchy’ people to put it mildly! Despite these challenges - the photoshoot was a success.
Do not be limited with normal beauty when looking at locations to create imagery.
Learn to see possibilities in the normality and the obscure.
